Sourcing goals
We aim to carry only the cleanest, most natural products and ingredients for your home, kitchen and personal care. We start with a small radius in our sourcing, diminishing travel time as much as possible. We branch outside of the Carolina’s when we can’t find the best nearby. 1. Recognizable, Clean Ingredients
This will always be the first filter we run a new product through. We’re looking for minimal processing, whole and unchanged ingredients, organic / non GMO, no spray, non-vaccinated / no antibiotic protein, and transparency in supply chain / future brand changes all while being able to meet a consistent and high demand. We understand the greenwashing behind misleading labels like “organic” and “free range” and aim to educate and inform whenever possible. We are always excited to hear about local farmers and makers doing things the old fashioned way.
2. Local, Transparent, Consistent
Good ingredients will override locality every time, however, we aim to support farmers and makers in our small town of Travelers Rest first. When we can’t find someone nearby meeting our first standard of clean ingredients, we broaden our radius to the Carolinas at large, and expand further after that. (You will find many Azure standard products on our shelves.) During this step, we look at not only the ingredients, but also the vendor’s ability to maintain regular inventory in our fast paced market, reasonable margin, and transparency in communication over time.
3. Aesthetics, Man Made, Sustainable
Lastly, we evaluate packaging. Well designed and sustainable packaging have a huge impact on sales and say a lot about the brand as a whole. We will not sell items with labels using AI generated images, ALL ingredients should be listed on packaging, and packaging must stay consistent over time to build customer loyalty. While we know it is not always possible, we love offering refillable and recycled options, returned cartons, and biodegradable packaging.
